How to Draw a Landscape with Soft Pastels Step by Step

If there is one thing common to all beginners in pastel painting is that they think that soft pastels can be mixed as we would with any other means of painting, such as oil, acrylic or watercolor. And the truth is that it is not like that. soft pastels are difficult, and in some cases impossible to mix.

For this reason, it is always best to have a very high range of different colors.

The problem is that soft pastels are expensive, in some cases very expensive.
What to do then when we are beginners?

The solution has existed for many years and is the half bars.

Many brands sell sets of half bars. Some are better than others.

My favorite range for students is: Faber-Castell Soft Pastel (half barrs)

In this tutorial I show you several techniques of drawing and painting with pastel, and to do so I use a game of only 72 Faber-Castell Soft Pastel (half barrs)

I hope you find it useful!
